I'm glad you're interested in meditation and the Virya courses.
Here I've put together the most important information for all courses. You'll find details under each course.
I have never meditated before. Can I even do this?
The ideas people have about what meditation actually is are often so complicated!
And yet meditation means nothing other than becoming aware of one's own awareness.
Would you like to test whether you can do this?
Then simply ask yourself: am I aware or conscious right now? Or to put it another way: "Am I?"
You probably paused at the question for a moment, but then said: "Yes. Of course I am."
The place you went to in order to find out whether you are, is the place of meditation. It is completely familiar to you — it's just that most people have lost touch with this place a little amid the stress of everyday life.
But we can all rediscover it very easily.
In short: Yes, you can absolutely meditate.
Which course is the right one for me?
My courses build on one another in a specific sequence. A little further down on this page I'll explain how. You'll also find additional information on this under each individual course.
If you already have some prior experience in meditation, you can take a look at the course descriptions and assess whether they match your current level of practice. In any case, I'm happy to help you find the right course for you, so that you truly enjoy your journey into meditation.
Should I take a group course or a one-on-one course?
Whether you'd prefer a group course or a one-on-one course is a very personal question.
Group courses…
…generally take place with three participants. The small number of meditators allows for good attention and support as you learn the meditation techniques. If a course or retreat takes place in a larger group, this will be indicated in the course description.
The advantage of a group course is that you immediately come into contact and exchange with fellow meditators. Some students find this very enjoyable. However, in a group setting you have less time for individual questions and naturally need to align yourself with the group's schedule.
One-on-one tuition in an intensive course…
…is the second option for learning meditation. All courses can also be taken as an intensive one-on-one course — at an additional charge. I teach fundamentally the same content as in the group course, but can respond to you in a much more individual and tailored way, adapting each session optimally to your progress and your needs. We shape every session to match exactly where you are in your personal meditation practice at that moment. Especially if you are looking for a particularly calm and relaxed environment with a lot of individual attention, I would warmly recommend the one-on-one course. Sessions for the one-on-one course are of course arranged individually.
Only you can decide what suits you best. I'm naturally happy to advise you on this — please don't hesitate to reach out.
Where do the courses take place?
Unless otherwise stated (as with some retreats or special meditations), all courses take place in the Virya meditation rooms at Tiefenthaler Straße 21 in Grünstadt.
For some exercises and during fine weather in summer, we also make use of our large garden.
How do I book a course and when does it start?
If you'd like to book one of the courses or have any questions, please get in touch with me — by phone, email, or most easily via the contact form you'll find under each course. We'll then work out together whether your expectations, your available times, and your level of meditation are a good fit for the course.
I'll of course also let you know when you can start the next available course.
Do you have specific questions? Perhaps individual one-on-one tuition is the right choice.
Any specific concern you may have can always be addressed with me in individual one-on-one tuition.
What do the courses cost and how many sessions does a meditation course include?
You'll find an explanation of each meditation course, the price, and the number of sessions in the description of each individual course.
Do you find it difficult to pay for the course?
Meditation courses naturally have a price. However, it is important to me that everyone who genuinely wants to learn meditation is able to do so. If you are in financial difficulty but would still like to attend a course, please write me an email.
In any case, we will find together the course for you
that takes you further on your journey of discovery in meditation.
All courses at a glance:
My meditation courses build on each other, as you can see in the diagram.
This sequence is an established practice. I have walked this path myself over many years, often having to find my next step on my own.
As a teacher, I have developed and optimized this sequence for my students so that you don't have to waste time searching for a path for yourself, but can fully concentrate on meditation and your inner self.
This path suits most meditation students very well. Nevertheless, I would like to emphasize that meditation is a very individual practice, and I will never lose sight of you as a person and will always work with you to find "your way".
